Roundhouse kick to the head

Roundhouse kick (Japanese Mawashi-Geri , Kor. Dollyeo chagi ) is the generic term for circular foot techniques in martial arts , in which foot kicks and kicks are used. The targets of the roundhouse kick are the head, body, or thighs. The ball of the foot, instep or shin is hit.

With this technique, you stand on one leg, bend the other leg, and then quickly stretch it so that the foot moves in an arch towards the target. In the final phase, the foot moves horizontally and hits the target from the side.

The roundhouse kick differs from the classic Mawashi-geri in the way it ends. While with the Mawashi-geri the foot is taken back after the execution, which should also be done if the target is missed, with the roundhouse kick, depending on the martial art, it is accepted that the foot will continue its movement and the fighter may move bring it back into position with a quick turn, e.g. B. the Brazilian kick , which is also a roundhouse kick.
