Rufus Enersan Brown (born December 3, 1854 in Dickinson , Franklin County , New York , † June 15, 1920 in Burlington , Vermont ) was an American lawyer who was Vermont Attorney General from 1912 to 1915 .

Life

Rufus Enersan Brown was born in Dickinson, Franklin County, New York to John T. and Margaret A. Brown.

He attended school in Lawrenceville and then worked as a teacher and on a farm. He began studying law at the age of 23 while also working for Wales & Taft. He was admitted to the bar in 1881. He then worked as a lawyer in Burlington, Vermont. He was President of the Vermont Bar Association in 1911

As a member of the Republican Party of Vermont , he was District Attorney for Chittenden County from 1894 to 1900 . He was chairman of the committee on claims , a member of the joint committee on state and court expenses and the committee on judiciary and banks

Brown married Elizabeth M. Brownell in 1908.

Rufus E. Brown died on June 15, 1920 in Burlington, Vermont. It is not known where his grave is located.
