Rui Naiwei
Rui Naiwei ( Chinese 芮 迺 偉 / 芮 迺 伟 , Pinyin Ruì Nǎiwěi ; born December 28, 1963 in Shanghai , People's Republic of China ) is one of the strongest Go players in the world and led the best list of professional Go players according to Elo from 1986 to for 2012.
She started Going in 1975 at the age of 11. In 1985 she became a professional go player. In 1988 she was the first woman to achieve 9th Dan . In 1989 she emigrated from China to Japan. In 1992 she reached the semi-finals of the international Ing Cup . She later emigrated to South Korea with her husband Jiang Zhujiu , where she dominated the women's competitions and won 2 open men's tournaments: the Kuksu Cup (1999) and the Maxim Cup (2004), in which she was defeated by her husband there a year earlier.
