License fee (Czech Republic)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Czech radio license fee (in Czech koncesionářské poplatky , literally: "license fee ") is levied in the Czech Republic for radio reception by people who have a television or radio receiver or a device that is equipped with a receiver or tuner.

Czech television and Czech radio are two public media companies that, according to the law, should be politically and economically independent. To ensure this, Act No. 348/2005 Coll. Was issued in 1995.

The television fee is 135 CZK (approx. 5.10 euros) per month, the radio fee 45 CZK (approx. 1.70 euros) per month.

Fee model

Basically, it is assumed that everyone who has an electricity supplier owns such a device. Electricity suppliers are required by law to provide Czech television and radio with information about all of their customers. In principle, you only have to pay once per private household. If you have a second home or a weekend house, you only pay once.

liberation

  • Blind who are blind in both eyes or deaf who are deaf in both ears (but if a person without disability lives in the household, payment must be made)
  • Households whose net income for the previous calendar quarter did not reach 2.15 times the subsistence level
  • Viewers and listeners who use Czech television or radio through streaming offers, d. H. via a computer without a TV card or mobile phone,
  • Schools according to the Education Act
  • Foreigners without a permanent or long-term residence permit in the Czech Republic

Entrepreneur

Entrepreneurs (both natural and legal persons) pay license fees for each receiving device that is in their possession. The fee also applies to receivers built into means of transport.

Penalties for failure to register

The reporting obligation is incumbent on the individual household. Registration must take place within 15 days of acquiring the recipient or moving to a new place of residence. The fine for black viewers and black listeners is CZK 10,000 for Czech television and CZK 5,000 for Czech radio.
