2011: The Oprah Winfrey Show retires after 25 years

General

  • 0January 1 - In Hungary , the controversial media control authority established by the ruling party Fidesz begins operations.
  • March 11th - The Tōhoku earthquake near the east coast of Honshū ( Japan ) reaches a magnitude of 9.0. Radio and television around the world reported extensively on this event, in particular on the Fukushima nuclear disaster .
  • 0June 8th - The video-on-demand website Kino.to is taken offline on suspicion of the formation of a criminal organization and suspected commercial infringement of copyright . The police carried out raids and house searches in four countries.
