The Saxon Day of Remembrance for the victims of flight, displacement and forced resettlement is celebrated on the second Sunday in September. With it, the successful integration and development work of the expellees and repatriates in Saxony is recognized.

After the Second World War, Saxony was an important host country with over a million displaced persons and refugees and became a new home for many of them. Many Saxon citizens still have a connection to the issue of flight and displacement. The displaced people not only built a new home for themselves, but at the same time helped to redesign the destroyed cities, villages and landscapes as well as social structures. You have made a lasting impact on Saxony to this day.
