River dolphin

As Flussdelfine or freshwater dolphins , whales sometimes freshwater, various types of whales are designated who live in fresh and brackish water and the partially originally assigned to a common taxonomic group:

• the Amazon river dolphins (Iniidae)
• the Chinese river dolphin ( Lipotes vexillifer )
• the La Plata dolphin ( Pontoporia blainvillei )
• the Ganges and Indus dolphins, see Platanista

In addition, there are representatives of the (real) dolphins living in fresh water such as

• the species of the genus Sotalia ,
• the Cameroon river dolphin ( Sousa teuszii )
• the Irrawaddy Dolphin ( Orcaella brevirostris )
