SAE - World Council of Hellenes Abroad (in Greece: Συμβούλιο Απόδημου Ελληνισμού) is the association of the Greek diaspora . The organization is based Thessaloniki .

history

Until 1995 there was no representation of the Greeks abroad , this role was partly taken over by church organizations. The SAE was founded in order to address concerns vis-à-vis the Greek state as well. Greece now recognizes the organization as a representative of the Greeks abroad. The initiative to found it went back to Andrew Athens from the USA.

The SAE consists of several regional sub-associations, these are as follows:

  • SAE USA
  • SAE Canada
  • SAE Latin America
  • SAE CIS countries
  • SAE Black Sea Region (Pontos)
  • SAE Far East and Oceania
