SOFIX (stock index)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The SOFIX (also Bulgarian: Индекс SOFIX ) is the official share index of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange in Sofia . The SOFIX is a price index in which the individual prices are weighted with the respective market capitalization of the individual companies. The index takes into account the total of the market capitalizations of the companies listed in the index portfolio for the current and the previous day and shows their changes. The leading index SOFIX, which was initiated on October 20, 2000, has since multiplied from its starting level (100 points) and reached an all-time high of 1,976.7 points in October 2007, but has been well below it since then (see web links below).

The price barometer is constructed as a price index and contains the 12 most liquid companies on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange. In order to be accepted, the companies must meet various criteria: In addition to a minimum trading period of three months, the market capitalization must reach 50 million leva (around 25 million euros) and the trading volume in the last 12 months must be over 5 million leva. The number of shareholders should also not be less than 500. The index composition resulting from these criteria is diverse and ranges from oil to finance to hotels and tourism. Insurance & Reinsurance , the oil company Petrol AD and the pharmaceutical company SoPharma AD are particularly strong .
