Science and Technology Facilities Council

The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is a UK government agency dedicated to supporting the natural and engineering sciences. It promotes research in the UK in particular in the areas of particle physics, nuclear physics, space physics and astronomy. It administers various research centers and organizes the participation of the United Kingdom in international research institutions and organizations such as B. CERN and ESA .

STFC was created in 2007 through the merger of the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC) with the Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils (CCLRC).
