Sahana

Sahana is an integrated collection of collaborative , internet-based software solutions that can be used in the event of a regional and / or global disaster , especially afterwards. It is free open source software ( FOSS ).

The system currently consists of the following main components:

  • Situation mapping system
  • Missing Persons Register
  • Affected Register
  • Organization directory
  • Emergency shelter directory
  • Helper management system
  • Demand management system
  • Warehouse directory

Around 60 active developers worldwide are working on this project, which has its origins in the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake in Sri Lanka . In 2006 it was awarded the Free Software Award for Projects of Social Benefit .
