As Salon Tyrolean refers to tourists that make vacationing in the Alps and it is in Alpine costume dress.

The term originated at the end of the 19th century when northern German citizens were increasingly vacationing in the exotic world of the Alps .

A similar mocking shift in meaning with the prefix " Salon- " for imitation can be found in Salon Bolshevist .
