Salvo (salute)
The Latin greeting salve or in the plural salvete literally means “be healthy” or “be healthy”. It is the imperative of the verb salvere - to be healthy, to stay healthy, to be safe.
The Marian antiphon Salve Regina , the text of which was written before 1054, is still sung regularly in the Catholic Church .
Arose in from the greeting the 16th century , the military ceremony of Salve , the ehrenbezeigenden greeting by saluting . In inscriptions at house entrances, for example on doorsteps , SALVE was widespread until the late 19th century, as was its Greek counterpart ΧΑΙΡΕ . In Italy people still greet each other today with “salve”, the Greek counterpart is also used in the same way, especially in the plural form χαιρετε ( chairete ).
