Data

The gorge is about 1.5 km long and between three and ten meters wide, only in a few places it reaches more. The height of the rock walls reaches about 150 m. The river Kriopotamos flows through the gorge, which has different water levels throughout the year due to the wet winter and dry summer.

Access and crossing

The gorge can be accessed from both the lower and the upper end. The lower end is a little easier to find, while the passage of the gorge is easier to negotiate from the upper end - the entrance is difficult to find in both cases as it is not touristically accessible.

The level of difficulty of the crossing is medium, although it only takes about 1½ hours to cross, as you have to walk in some places in the river bed and some rocks have to be crossed. Climbing equipment is not required.
