Shaking machine (agriculture) in the holdings of the Hemp Museum in Berlin

A shaker is a machine used in historical agriculture that was used in hemp cultivation. She shakes the seeds out of the plant's inflorescences to separate them from the rest of the plant parts.

After the seeds were separated from the flower with the so-called corrugated board , the stalks were broken in a break and then pulled through combs. The flowers fell off and then came into the shaker, which was powered by wind power. As a result of the movement, the seeds fell through the sieve and could be caught and used under the machine.
