The historic house on Schützenstrasse in Bergheim

Building history

This house, which today houses a law firm, is the former agricultural winter school of the Bergheim (Erft) district . It was also built by the district architect Anton Ruland. A lecture hall and meeting rooms were planned on the lower floor, and the generous director's apartment on the upper floor. The winter schools were institutions of the Agricultural Association for Rhine Prussia. Since the agricultural work in the fields was suspended from November to March, this period was suitable for the further training of the next generation of farmers. And this school served this purpose, which was only open in the winter months mentioned. Due to the great demand, the classrooms were no longer sufficient in the 1920s. Therefore, in the winter semester of 1928/29, the agricultural school, as it was now called, moved into a new building that had been built between the previous building and the Bergheim town hall.

Todays use

Today the building of the agricultural school is owned by the Erftland municipal housing company.
