A show dairy is a company that is freely accessible at certain opening times (or by prior arrangement) , where you can watch the cheese production from raw materials ( milk and rennet ) to hard cheese . A tasting is also often possible, and larger establishments have a restaurant attached. Sometimes there is a direct sale of the cheese made on the farm and other dairy products .
Show dairies are used as a marketing concept , but also as a tourist attraction, and viewing them is usually offered free of charge.
