Percussion quartet Cologne

The Schlagquartett Köln is a percussion soloist ensemble founded in 1989 on the occasion of the Witten Days for New Chamber Music , which interprets works of contemporary music . It works with composers of the younger generation as well as with already renowned artists. The quartet regularly awards composition commissions, for which the four musicians of the Schlagquartett Köln provide important impulses through the development of innovative playing techniques and the construction of special sound generators.

In 1996 the Schlagquartett Köln received the German Record Critics' Prize for the CD recording of Nicolaus A. Huber's "Herbstfestival".

In 2003 the Schlagquartett Köln was awarded the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation Prize.
