Eisenberg Castle

Eisenberg Castle ( Polish Pałac w Żeleźniku ) is a castle built in Żeleźnik, Lower Silesia .

The village was first mentioned in 1363 as Ysenborgh or Eysenbergk , when Christian Eicke was "Lord of Eisenberg". Later the place was owned by the von Bischofsheim, von Gersdorff, then until 1619 owned by Nikolaus von Posadowsky and the Counts of Dyhrn.

The baroque castle was built in place of a Renaissance courtyard, probably around 1720. In 1854, Johann Gottlieb Walter acquired the castle. From 1910 the von Obernitz family owned the castle.

After the region fell to the People's Republic of Poland, the undamaged castle served as a children's home and later as the residence of the employees of the PGR built on the estate .

Building

The castle is two-story with a mansard hipped roof. Inside, some rooms have baroque and neo-baroque stucco work and fragments of wall paintings. To the south of the castle are garden terraces and a baroque granary. To the west of the castle was a landscape park that is now completely overgrown.
