A sippy cup is a cup with a mouthpiece that tapers like a beak. The drink thus flows directly into the mouth and the lips do not have to be pursed, as is the case with ordinary cups and glasses. It is said to have been invented in Bohemia for use in drinking cures. Today the sippy cup is used by children and the elderly, in addition to those who are bedridden, to make it easier for them to drink. The beak cup , which is a combination of a plastic cup and a beak attachment, is also known.
