description
The former village of Schuttellobeke was slightly elevated between the places Evern and Klein Lobke. The place was first mentioned in 1117. The Count of Haimar donated a house and 24 acres of land in Schuttellobeke to the Diocese of Hildesheim in order to acquire church rights for the chapel in Evern. In memory of Schuttellobeke, a memorial stone was unveiled on July 24, 2011 at the former village site.
Meaning of the place name
Schuttellobeke means something like "embankment on a forest stream". This is explained by “Schuttel” for embankment, “Lo” for the Old Low German name for forest and “Beke”, the Old Low German name for Bach.
