Rind (wood)

bundled rinds in a sawmill

The outer sections that are created when sawing a trunk on sawn timber are called rinds . One side is formed by the outside of the trunk and thus still has the outer trunk rounding.

Often it is still undrinded. These boards are of poor quality and are often used as waste wood for further use as wood chips or firewood . The only exception is the exterior cladding , where the non-cracked surface offers increased natural weather resistance. Boarding in black wood offers a " rustic " look.
