Swiss Youth Film Festival

The Swiss Youth Film Festival is a Swiss film festival that has been held every year since 1976. The competition is open to young Swiss filmmakers up to 25 years of age (or film students up to 30 years of age).

The Swiss Youth Film Festival is the largest film festival in Switzerland and mainly shows films by young filmmakers. Every year over 2000 young people take part in the films that are submitted to a selection group in the run-up to the festival.

history

The Swiss Youth Film Festival took place for the first time in 1976 as a video competition for young people. The festival always takes place in spring, the registration window is open from September to January.

Categories

The festival contains 5 categories:

Category A

Productions by young people up to the age of 16 that were produced by individuals, groups of young people or accompanied by adults (film initiatives, youth work, schools).

Category B - Thematic Films

Individual or group productions that young people up to the age of 19 have realized independently or as part of the film workshops of the Swiss Youth Film Festival. All films must be related to the workshop topic.

Category C

Productions by young people up to the age of 19, which were produced by individuals, groups of young people or accompanied by adults (film initiatives, youth work, schools).

Category D

Individual or group productions that young adults between the ages of 20 and 25 have realized alone or in teams outside of a school or training framework.

Category E.

Productions by young filmmakers up to the age of 30 who attend a film school or other design college. It doesn't matter whether the film was created inside or outside the school setting.

Prices

Four prizes with a total value of CHF 15,000 will be awarded per category:

  • 1st place: The "Jumping Panther" and a cash prize of CHF 1000.–
  • 2nd place: A cash prize of CHF 600.–
  • 3rd place: A cash prize of CHF 400.–
  • ZKB audience award, donated by Zürcher Kantonalbank : A cash prize of CHF 1000.–
