Swiss working group of youth associations
The Swiss Association of Youth Associations (SAJV, French Conseil suisse des activités de jeunesse, CSAJ) is the umbrella organization of around 70 youth organizations in Switzerland and represents their concerns to the authorities, in political bodies and to the public. The SAJV was founded in 1933.
The competence center for youth development and participation
The promotion of the participation of children and young people in society is the core business of the SAJV. Other fields of activity are the commitment to equal opportunities and support holistic health promotion and offers various projects for young people. The SAJV consists of around 120 voluntary and 16 full-time employees, is religiously and politically independent and not profit-oriented.
participation
The SAJV works in the most important committees as an expert with and continues cantonal, national and international level to ensure that young people in political decisions to participate can. Important political successes are the creation (1989) and the total revision (2011) of the youth promotion legislation, the creation of youth leave (1991) and youth-friendly preventive measures in the National Alcohol Program of the BAG (2008).
voluntary work
Volunteering is the backbone of all youth organizations. The SAJV is therefore committed to their political and social betterment. In 1991 the one-week youth leave was introduced and standards for voluntary work references were set with the social time card and the training booklet.
