A Scorefile is a file in which newsreader with corresponding functionality rules for evaluating (scoring) of Usenet - postings store. Using these rules, unwanted postings can be hidden or specially marked, and articles that are likely to be of particular interest can be highlighted. It is also possible to sort the articles according to their score.

The functionality of score files includes in particular that of kill files .
