Seachtain na Gaeilge

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seachtain na Gaeilge ( SNAG , dt. "Week of the Irish") is a nonprofit organization with the goal for the Irish language to advertise. To this end, it organizes a two-week festival every year in March.

This event was first organized by Conradh na Gaeilge in 1903. Today, the SnaG is financed by Foras na Gaeilge .

The festival program ranges from music and art to speed dating. An average of over 150,000 people with different levels of Irish take part, mostly schoolchildren and many young people.

The motto is: "Croí na Teanga - It's You!" (Eng. "The heart of language - are you!")
