Klaipėda Seafarer's Hospital
The seaman's hospital Klaipėda ( lit. VšĮ Klaipėdos jūrininkų ligoninė ) is a hospital in Klaipėda , the third largest city in Lithuania . According to its legal form , it is Viešoji įstaiga , 'public institution'. It has 1,293 employees.
history
In 1948 the 50-bed Commercial Port Hospital and Polyclinic ( Prekybos uosto ligoninė ir poliklinika ) opened. This medical facility provided inpatient and outpatient support for workers in the Klaipėda port . The hospital was headed by chief physician Julius Simonavičius. In 1956 Stationar opened for fish industry employees (with 50 beds). Simanas Daukantas was appointed chief physician, Jonas Galdikas in 1969 and Viktoras Grigalauskas in 1976. After the establishment of the hospital of the shipyard "Baltija" in 1962, the three medical facilities were merged to form a hospital for fishermen and sea transport workers (150 beds).
