Self-doppler

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Self-doubling is a throwing technique from water polo . While the player is in the swimming movement, he lifts the ball with one hand about 10 to 20 cm out of the water. To do this, he reaches under the ball he is leading with the flat of his hand and lifts it up with one quick movement. After he has lifted the ball briefly, he breaks contact with the ball by lowering his hand. While the ball is in the air, the other hand will snap forward at lightning speed and push the ball in the desired direction with the flat hand. This throw is very often used for a goal throw that surprised the goalkeeper.
