Self-esteem contingency

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under Selbstwertkontingenz means the dependence of the self-esteem of standards. These can be internal standards, i.e. your own or at least internalized standards, but also external standards, i.e. standards specified by others. In research there are both one-dimensional and multidimensional models of self-esteem contingency and, accordingly, different questionnaires . It is assumed that it depends on upbringing whether one's self-worth depends on the achievement of a standard or whether it is experienced as independent of it.
