Self-defense

As a self defense (Engl., Self-defense ') is referred to in Criminal Law of England and Wales , a defense (defense plea). Originally it was not regulated by law, but only existed as common law . After s. 3 (1) Criminal Law Act 1967 , a person may use "violence to the extent that it appears reasonable in a given situation to ward off a crime [...]". Since this does not cover the cases in which there is no actus reus or mens rea , self defense from common law comes into play for these constellations .
