Sex flush

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a sex flush or sex flush ( flush here for English blush ) is called during sexual arousal occurring redness that occur especially on the face, abdomen, chest and back, especially during the plateau and orgasm phase of the sexual response cycle . They are seen more often in women than in men.

General

The sexual response cycle is divided into the phases of arousal, plateau, orgasm and regression. The sex flush can, but does not have to occur in the plateau phase, reach its climax in the orgasm phase and disappear again in the regression phase. It is due to vasocongestion of the skin and can affect the whole body. During sexual arousal, blood is distributed from deeper body regions to the surface, i.e. the skin, and triggers the sex flush when the intensity of arousal is high. In old age this becomes less frequent or decreases.

Differences between the sexes

While the sex flush in men can only be observed in the plateau phase, it can occur in women in the late arousal phase.

The face, forehead, neck and chest are affected in both sexes, but in women the lower abdomen, thighs, lower back and buttocks are also affected. In women, the sex flush often begins in the skin region of the upper abdomen and spreads over the upper body and breasts. The face and neck can also be affected; in women who react intensely, the skin of the lower abdomen, shoulders and elbows, and with the onset of orgasm, thighs, buttocks and back, in individual cases the whole body. Men also react in the order of the upper abdomen, chest, neck, face, and occasionally with reddening of the shoulders, forearms and thighs.

According to a study, the phenomenon affects around 75% of women and 25% of men.
