Sfax Railways Sports ( Arabic نادي سكك الحديد الصفاقسي, DMG Nādī Sikak al-ḥadīd aṣ-Ṣafāqusī ) is a Tunisian sports club from the port city of Sfax and played in the second Tunisian division during the 2018/19 season. The club colors of the Tunisian second division team are black and yellow. The club plays in the stadium on March 2nd , which has a capacity of 4,000 spectators. In the vernacular, the association is often simply called SRS or Railways .

History and city derby

Sfax Railways Sports was founded in 1920 under the name Université Club , a year later the name was changed to Sporting Club de Sfax . Finally, in 1925, the name still used today was adopted. The club played since the independence of Tunisia, with a few interruptions, until 1995 in the top Tunisian league and won three championships and three times the final of the Tunisian Cup . The club from Sfax could never recover from relegation in the 1994/95 season and has not been promoted to the first division since. SRS spent 34 seasons in the premier league and played 856 games. 258 wins, 288 draws and 310 defeats with a goal difference of 871 to 966 goals are the club's record in the first division. The club could not keep up financially and had to rely more on players from its own ranks after relegation. The team’s youth work has produced many top division clubs, especially for city rivals Club Sportif Sfaxien . The rivalry is no longer so explosive due to the fact that the two clubs have been playing in different leagues for decades, CSS in the first division and Railways in the second and third division, and has not been played since 1995. While Club Sportif Sfaxien is one of the top clubs in Tunisia and Africa, Sfax Railways Sports only plays a minor role in terms of sport. Between 1956 and 1995 the derby was played 68 times, Club Sportif Sfaxien has achieved 32 victories in the past, Sfax Railways won 9 times and the derby ended in a draw 27 times. Sfax Railways Sports scored 49 goals in the derby and conceded 90. The 3-0 win in the 1955/56 season was the highest derby win for the black and yellow, while the biggest defeat in the city derby was a 5-0 defeat in the 1982/83 season.
