Shaku

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shaku ( Japanese ) was a Japanese measure of length and was considered a foot . It is one of the basic units of the ancient Japanese Shakkanhō system of measurements.

The Japanese Law of Measure and Weight of 1891 defines a shaku as 1033  m and the longer kujirajaku ( 鯨 尺 , "whale shaku") used in tailoring as exactly 25% larger, i.e. H. 2566  m. The former is also called Kanejaku ( 曲尺 , "Winkel-Shaku") for clarity .

  • 1 Shaku / Kanejaku = 30, 30 centimeters
  • 1 Kujirajaku = 37, 87 centimeters

The dimensional chain was

  • 1 Shaku = 10 Sun = 100 Bun = 1000 Rin

In older literature, the latter can also be found in twisted Japanese as Tsune sasi / Wune sasi with 37.8979 centimeters.
