Shape (computer graphics)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A shape is a graphic object that can be displayed on the computer monitor . In terms of function, it is similar to a sprite , but is not displayed autonomously by the graphics hardware. Rather, the CPU of the computer is responsible for the representation of shapes, which copies the shape into the bitmap at the appropriate place , which is at the expense of system performance. Even if shapes are not a real alternative to hardware-accelerated sprites or BOBs , fast processors today put the disadvantages into perspective.
