Siddhar

The Siddhar (Tamil: Cittar from Tamil Cittu means intellect, singular cittar ) refers to intellectual people in Tamil language, from ancient Tamilakam , and was written only in Tamil language . A Siddha receives intellectual powers called Siddhi through constant practice of certain educational disciplines.

Historically, Siddhar also refers to the people who were early wandering adepts who mastered ancient Tamil doctrine and philosophy. They were knowledgeable in science, technology, astronomy, literature, visual arts, music, drama, dance and provided solutions to common people in their illness and advice for their future.
