Silver hemisphere

The Silver Hemispheres have been awarded annually by the German National Committee for Monument Protection since 1979 to people or groups of people who have made an important contribution to the preservation and rescue of buildings, ensembles, old town centers, villages and archaeological monuments through their initiative.

A multiple award per year is possible.

The solid silver hemisphere by Fritz Koenig , Landshut, shows a wreath of slightly abstracted structures on the cut surface: sacred and secular buildings form a closed row and symbolize the comprehensive scope of monument protection and preservation. The hemisphere itself also bears the inscription "German Prize for Monument Protection" with the respective year (quote from DNK).
