Simeon Niger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Simeon, called Niger belongs to a group of five people who are referred to in Acts  13, 1  LUT as prophets and teachers of the church in Antioch . This group also included Saul and Barnabas , who were sent out by this circle to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ (see Paul's 1st missionary journey ). Its Latin nickname Niger indicates that with Simeon a black man belonged to the leadership of the community of Antioch.
