The word texting can have several meanings:

  • In Germany, the grass-like plants of the genus Scirpus are called Simsen , see Simsen (genus)
  • In Austria, ledges are the name of the grass-like plants of the genus Juncus , see Juncus
  • Simsen has also been the colloquial term for sending SMS messages in German-speaking countries since the 1990s (in the vote for the word of the year 2001, it was ranked 9th).
  • Playing the computer game The Sims , The Sims 2 or The Sims 3
  • Registered word mark at the German Patent Office no .: 30013811.3 since July 18, 2000. Classes: 09, 16, 35, 38, owner: Open Doors Creative Communications Ltd. Oberaudorf.
  • Simsen is dative plural as well as the Southwest German dialect form nominative singular for Sims .
