Sleep timer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A sleep timer (also sleep timer ) is a timer in electronic devices especially of consumer electronics . A switch-off time (usually one hour or in several steps from 30 minutes to two hours) can be selected by pressing a button on the device or on the remote control. The device then automatically switches to standby mode, i.e. it is switched off but not disconnected from the mains. The standby consumption must be taken into account .

The snooze function ( Snooze ), however, generally refers to the delay of the alarm clock to a specific time period, usually a few minutes, but is occasionally confused with the sleep timer.

The timer as a sleep function is in contrast to the alarm clock . A combination of these two types of timers is often found in clock radios .
