smRNA

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The smRNA ( English small modulatory RNA ) is a type of dsRNA (double-stranded RNA) discovered in 2004 . The RNA (English abbreviation for ribonucleic acid, in German abbreviated to RNS) with a length of 20 nucleotides is involved in the development of nerve cells . It interacts with a protein that prevents the expression of certain nerve cell-specific genes in other cells . The exact mechanism is still unknown.
