Smiss

Smiss is a name that often occurs on the Swedish island of Gotland for individual homesteads . The name contains the altgutnische word smidher for blacksmith in the genitive form and should be understood as shorthand for homestead of the blacksmith, the word farm as often omitted on Gotland.
