Solo spin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The solo turn describes a dance figure as a single turn. It can be danced by the lady (ladies' solo twist) or by the gentleman (men's solo twist), although it is practically exclusively performed by the woman, especially for beginners. Normally the partner who is not performing the basic step remains in the basic step , since a turn always takes the same amount or exactly half as much time as the basic step. Thus, a solo turn can easily be incorporated into the overall picture of the dance. The ladies' solo twist is one of the simplest figures. It is danced in all Latin American dances.
