The Soviet Hohenschönhausen Memorial on Küstriner Straße, in the Berlin district of Alt-Hohenschönhausen in the Lichtenberg district , was built between 1947 and 1948.

On April 22, 1945, Hohenschönhausen was one of the first Berlin districts to be captured in the Battle of Berlin . The memorial is  dedicated to the fallen of the Red Army , who were initially buried on site before being reburied in Schönholz  . In the 1970s on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the liberation , the memorial was redesigned with the participation of members of the Free German Youth and the Komsomol .

In recent years, the damage to the memorial has increased and in addition to vandalism, for example the soldier's rifle was knocked off on the left side of the relief, weather damage is also visible. The Lichtenberg district plans to redesign the memorial by 2021.
