Lock rescalation

The lock escalation (engl. Lock escalation ) describes the behavior of a database management system , if more within the system locks to be applied when the system to manage in a position.

In this case, several more finely granulated locks on smaller data objects are converted into a single, more coarsely granulated lock on a larger, higher-level data object. These data objects can be data records or tables .
