The Spreewaldmuseum Lehde is an open-air museum in Lehde that is dedicated to life in the Spreewald in the 19th century. The museum belongs to the Spreewald Museum in Lübbenau and is included in the list of architectural monuments in Lübbenau / Spreewald .

history

The opening of the museum took place on July 26, 1957. Since 1955 a dilapidated and uninhabited house opposite the Zum Fröhlichen Hecht inn had been expanded and rebuilt. The furnishings came from the Spreewald room in the Spreewald Museum . The director of the Spreewaldmuseum Lübbenau, Gerhard Krüger , was the initiator of the establishment of the open air museum. In 1968 a natural history department was also set up. On New Year's Eve 1973 a fire broke out in the museum.

In 2007, the film Frau Holle was shot on the grounds of the museum .

Buildings and exhibitions

The museum is divided into three courtyards typical of the region.

  • Hof Lehde - after 1957 a so-called heap courtyard from Lehde was completed as a complete museum house and business complex
  • Hof Burg - from the Burger area - includes the twin parlor, a stable gallery, a maids and feed room and a typical boat shed
  • Hof outskirts - from the Spreerand area - includes a large residential building, a small moving house, and a stable

The history of the Spreewald gherkins and their production is conveyed to the visitors in a building . Further topics and exhibits include handicraft tools, basket weaving, reed roofing, pottery, blueprint , porcelain, folk art, Spreewald fishing and medicinal plants and herbs gardens. Historical crafts are also carried out on public holidays. In addition, an art gallery. The museum also houses an exhibition of historical costumes. With the Sorbs / Wends in Lausitz, the costumes vary from parish to parish.
