A Sprieß , a construction support or a telescopic support in structural engineering a demo tables and variable support element, usually made of galvanized or painted steel tubes. The length can be continuously adjusted using a plug and screw mechanism. The permissible load capacity in the direction of the longitudinal axis of a typical prop is 20 kN (2040 kg).

Other names are building stamps , screw props or, depending on the intended use, also ceiling props , formwork props and heavy-duty props . Window supports are shorter as they are braced in window openings.

Sprouts are mostly used vertically to support the ceiling , but also diagonally or horizontally for formwork and trench sheeting .

Lighter versions as for supporting drywall during the alignment and fixing are as mounting brackets , clamping supports , quick-release restraints , one-hand release or handed supports referred.
