Vertical load scale

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The vertical load scale is used to measure the vertical load of a car trailer. Minimum and maximum drawbar loads are prescribed for both trailers and towing vehicles (the lower value of the towing vehicle or trailer limits the maximum permissible drawbar load).

The maximum permissible vertical load should be used in order to achieve better driving stability of the combination. Insufficient drawbar loads endanger the driving stability.

Support load scales are designed in a simple form as spring scales; however, they are also offered in digital form. For correct use, the drawbar load scale must be placed in the drawbar of the trailer coupling. The widespread measurement using personal scales only leads to an accurate measurement if it is not under the nose wheel of the trailer, but z. B. is set on a wooden slat according to the coupling height directly under the hitch.
