from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stadt-Omnibus Bern , SOB for short, was a municipal transport company in the Swiss federal city of Bern . It was founded in 1922, and in December 1923, the citizens of Bern approved a procurement loan for seven omnibuses and the construction of a depot . Just one year later, on 16 November 1924, the first was city bus - line in Switzerland to come on stream.

On September 1, 1947, the SOB finally merged with the Städtische Strassenbahnen Bern (SSB), which was responsible for the Bern tram that opened in 1890 and the Bern trolleybus that opened in 1940 . The Bern Municipal Transport Authority (SVB) was established at that time , and since then a uniform tariff has also applied for the three modes of operation tram, trolleybus and bus. This responded to a petition from the population that had been dealt with in the local council four years earlier.
