The Oldenburg City Festival (formerly also known as the Oldenburg Old Town Festival ) is one of the largest events of its kind in north-west Germany, with more than 300,000 visitors over three days. The big open-air party in the middle of Oldenburg city center traditionally begins on the last Thursday in August and runs for three days.

The city festival began in 1975 in Oldenburger Haarenstrasse on the occasion of the inauguration of the pedestrian zone. Little by little, the stalls spread across the entire pedestrian zone. Today there are around 20 stages (mostly with live music) and 250 stalls of all kinds. The Oldenburg City Festival owes its development largely to Klaus Enke, who took over the organization in 1975 as the spokesman for a street community and later managed it with his event agency. The city festival has been organized by the Oldenburg event agency E & M Marketing GmbH since summer 2004.
