Stare

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Staring refers to the fixation of an object with a stare. The view is not averted.

Prolonged stare is detrimental to the eye for several reasons: it can become too dry, natural nystagmus (imperceptible tremors) is impeded, and the mobility of the eye muscles can decrease. On the other hand, staring at a precisely fixed target for a few seconds is normal and also represents a targeted exercise of so-called eye gymnastics .

In terms of occupational medicine , staring becomes important as a result of sitting motionless in front of the screen , as the blinking frequency can decrease to less than five blinking times per minute, which promotes the development of dry eyes and the resulting symptoms.

Most stare goes in the computer work well with too few movements of the neck accompanied and back, which often leads to tension and back pain leads. For this reason, too, a short break from work is recommended at least every hour .
